Life is meaningless — and that might be the best news you've heard all day.

💡 Absurdism says life has no inherent meaning, but that freedom — not despair — is the proper response.

Imagine pushing a boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down — forever. That's the myth of Sisyphus, and philosopher Albert Camus thought it was the perfect metaphor for human life. We desperately search for meaning in a universe that offers none. Camus called this gap between our need for meaning and the universe's silence "the Absurd."

So what do we do about it? Camus saw three options: give up, make a leap of faith into religion or ideology, or — his favorite — embrace the absurd. Accept that life has no built-in meaning, and live fully anyway. Create your own joy, your own purpose, not because the universe demands it, but precisely because it doesn't.

Here's the twist: Camus said we should imagine Sisyphus happy. The struggle itself — choosing to push that boulder with full awareness — becomes an act of rebellion against meaninglessness. You don't need the universe to hand you a purpose. The freedom to create your own is the whole point.
