The scoreboard: metrics that decide who wins the shelf
💡 Core digital-shelf metrics — content score, availability, share of search, buy box, price compliance, reviews — cover four questions: is the page right, buyable, findable, and chosen?
Digital-shelf teams live by a handful of metrics. Learn these and you can read any dashboard in the field:
- Content score / content health — how complete and on-spec your PDPs are versus a rubric (title length, image count, bullets, A+ present, attributes filled). Often a 0–100%. - Availability / in-stock rate — the share of your products that are actually buyable right now. An out-of-stock item can't convert and loses search rank. - Share of search / share of shelf — your slice of the visible results for key terms. - Buy box win rate — on marketplaces where multiple sellers offer the same item, the percentage of time you are the default "Add to cart" seller. - Price compliance / MAP — whether listings honor your minimum advertised price. - Ratings & reviews — average stars and review volume, both social proof and a ranking signal.
Notice these split into content (did we build the page right?), availability (can they buy it?), visibility (can they find it?), and conversion/trust (will they choose it?). A healthy program watches all four — a great score means nothing if you're out of stock.
