The product-knowledge layer: claims, benefits, and approved language
💡 The product-knowledge layer stores approved claims and benefits as governed objects — linked to backing attributes, regions, and legal status — so persuasive content scales safely and updates everywhere at once.
Raw attributes ("320g," "merino wool") aren't the whole story. Sitting above them is a product-knowledge layer: the curated, approved language a brand is allowed to say — benefit statements, marketing claims, certifications, and the required disclosures that go with them. This is the connective tissue between dry data and persuasive, compliant content.
A claim is more than a phrase; it's a governed object with strings attached:
Claim: "Naturally temperature-regulating"
Backed by: attribute material = "Merino wool"
Status: Legal-approved ✔
Regions: US, EU (not APAC — pending review)
Requires: no medical/therapeutic wordingManaging claims as structured, governed knowledge — not free text a copywriter retypes each time — is what lets a brand scale content safely. Approved claims flow automatically into titles, bullets, and A+ modules; unapproved or region-restricted ones simply can't. When a regulation changes, you retire the claim once and it disappears everywhere. This layer is where compliance (Series 2), attributes (this series), and downstream content and AI-answer visibility all converge — a well-built product-knowledge base is arguably a brand's most durable digital-shelf asset.
