Your brain is for having ideas, not holding them. A 5-minute brain dump changes everything.

💡 Your brain can't stop tracking unfinished tasks (Zeigarnik Effect). A 5-minute brain dump frees mental RAM. Then pick just 3 priorities for the day.

David Allen nailed it: "Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them." The anxiety you feel isn't always about the tasks themselves — it's about the open loops your brain is trying to track. Every "I should..." that floats in your head consumes mental RAM.

The fix is embarrassingly simple: write everything down. Every morning (or evening), spend 5 minutes dumping every thought, task, worry, and idea onto paper or a notes app. Don't organize. Don't prioritize. Just get it out.

Why it works: your brain treats unfinished tasks as threats. Psychologist Bluma Zeigarnik discovered that incomplete tasks occupy mental bandwidth even when you're not working on them (the Zeigarnik Effect). But research shows that simply writing down a plan to do something gives your brain permission to let go — even before you do it.

The upgrade: once you've dumped everything, pick your top 3 for the day. Not 10, not 7 — three. If you finish those, great, do more. But three gives you focus and a sense of completion. Most productive people don't do more things. They do fewer things with full attention.
