You are not the voice narrating your life

💡 Freedom in the mind comes not from silencing thought but from seeing thoughts as passing objects in awareness rather than as who you are.

The third domain is the Mind, and Adyashanti's aim here is not to stop thinking but to end your unconscious identification with thought. Most suffering, he argues, comes from taking the mind's constant commentary as you and as the truth — believing every anxious story it tells.

The practice is to notice thought as thought: to see that thinking arises and passes within an awareness that is not itself a thought. When you observe the stream instead of being swept along by it, a gap opens. You realize you are the space in which thoughts appear, not the thoughts themselves.

From this vantage, the mind becomes a tool again rather than a tyrant. You can think when thinking is useful and rest in quiet clarity when it isn't. Adyashanti calls this a kind of natural insight — not adding new beliefs, but seeing through the ones that ran you unquestioned.
